New Orleans teachers, students and parents plan to protest Thursday against Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s refusal to sign an agreement that would provide $90 million for schools over the next decade.

Set to begin at 9 a.m. in front of City Hall, the protest comes while most New Orleans schools are on break and follows weeks of intense criticism of Cantrell decision to back out of the deal.

The settlement agreement would have ended a legal dispute between the city and the Orleans Parish School Board over tax collection by delivering $20 million to schools this year, plus $7 million annually for the next decade.
