A New Orleans resident, Ervin Dalvecchio Cooper, aged 23, has been charged with possessing files depicting the sexual exploitation of children under twelve. The charge was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson on February 27, 2025. Cooper faces a potential maximum sentence of twenty years in prison if convicted.
In addition to imprisonment, Cooper could face a lifetime of supervised release and be required to pay up to $250,000 in fines. He may also have to register as a sex offender and pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.
