NEW ORLEANS — Severe storms expected Saturday, March. 15 has changed plans for parades and events this weekend. Here’s what has been rescheduled or canceled.
Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Parade officials said in a Facebook post, “We are working with the City of New Orleans to reschedule the parade and will keep everyone informed of any developments.”
Covington Celtic Club Parade postponed; Jewel’s Cigar Block Party
The Covington Celtic Club Parade has been rescheduled to Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. due to anticipated severe weather, city officials announced Wednesday.
Tails But No Black Tie
Organizers said the event has been postponed to Sunday, March 16. The event celebrates 25 years of the Equest Farm in New Orleans.
Riders, trainers and owners are invited “Back to the Barn” for a night to enjoy our sport and be entertained by some of the best Grand Prix horses and riders in the country. Tickets are still available, and we hope to see you there!

Jefferson Parish Recreation Department
Outdoor events on Saturday, March 15 have been rescheduled. All outdoor events will take place on Sunday, March. 16 with changes.
- The track meets scheduled to take place on Saturday at Jefferson, Pontiff, Jacobs, and Kings Grant will now begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude by 10:00 a.m. The schedule will include relays starting at 8:00 a.m., followed by dashes (50m, 70m, 100m, and 200m). To expedite the meet, dashes will be run on both sides of the track, with boys competing on one side and girls on the other. Field events will not take place.
- Travel baseball games at LaSalle have been rescheduled. Instead of Saturday, a one-day tournament will be held on Sunday, March 16. The Turtle Thomas Baseball Camp at Pontiff will move indoors and will take place as scheduled in the gym from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The 8 Boys Biddy Regional Tournament at Jefferson will proceed as planned with no changes.
- JPRD Facility Reservation Coordinators will reach out to all those who have reserved shelters or fields through JPRD for Saturday, March 15 regarding their booking.
East Jefferson General Hospital ‘Fight Against Colorectal Cancer’ rescheduled
The event will now take place on Saturday, March 22 from noon until 3 p.m…
