Two convicted of rape as Orleans prosecutors work to clear backlog

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – After a jury found two men guilty of rape in two separate cases, Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams said the convictions are proof he’s homing in on sexual assault cases.

“Those who prey on others in the city of New Orleans will be dealt with,” Williams said at a Friday morning press conference.

Jermeil Young, 30, was convicted of four counts of first-degree rape this week. Another man, 35-year-old Torey Hobson was found guilty of rape last month. Both men now face mandatory life sentences…
