Blazin’ Hot Chicken, which specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken, was founded by owners Umair Abbasi and Adil Ali two years ago. Since then, they have rapidly expanded the brand. Today, it’s a family owned local chain that has locations in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Westlake and now at 4075 at Nicholson Drive in Baton Rouge. The location near LSU opened in March.

“They (the owners) wanted to expand to Baton Rouge to be closer to LSU campus and to bring something different to Baton Rouge,” said Amanda Abbasi, the Baton Rouge location’s assistant manager and a cousin of the owner.

There are plans for a New Orleans location on Canal Street and one in Shreveport, both set to open by this summer, she said…
