The New Orleans Police Department has released its preliminary crime statistics for the week of March 16-22, revealing a notable decrease in gun-related arrests and seizures. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the NOPD has seen a sharp decline in both categories. Gun arrests, which concern violations under LA RS 14:95 and its sub-items, fell by 54 percent from 186 in 2024 to just 86 arrests year to date.
