Firefighters: Burning house full of propane tanks

A fire Tuesday morning in Mid-City New Orleans could have been a lot worse.

New Orleans Fire Department officials say firefighters found more than a dozen propane tanks on the second floor of a burning building at Palmyra and Telemachus streets.

“The second floor of the building was heavily involved upon NOFD arrival,” according to NOFD Capt. Ed Holmes. “The building’s dilapidated condition wasn’t the only operational hazard encountered by firefighters, over a dozen propane tanks were located and removed from the second floor.”…
