SLIDELL, La. — Two of the three teens charged in the death of St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Sergeant Grant Candies are now also facing kidnapping charges, as the investigation continues into the deadly high-speed chase that shook the region over the weekend.
Adrian Waughtal, 17, of Slidell—accused of driving the vehicle that struck and killed Candies—remains held without bond. He now faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer, and second-degree kidnapping.
Michael Emanuel Lanier, 17, also of Slidell, is being held on a $150,000 bond. He was charged earlier this week with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Investigators say he was seated in the rear of the vehicle with two female passengers at the time of the pursuit.
The third teen arrested, Mason Paul Eugene Fischer, 17, was initially charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder after detectives determined he played a significant role in the pursuit.
