ASCENSION PARISH — State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies have booked a New Orleans woman into the Ascension Parish Jail on Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Arson charges.
Fire Marshal investigators determined that on March 24, 2025, around 5:30 a.m., Nicole R. Mellon (43) set on fire the exterior of an occupied camper at 10474 Acy Road, in St. Amant. The crime happened hours after Mellon and the camper’s occupant were involved in an argument. A neighbor saw the fire and awoke the occupant and she escaped unharmed.
The St. Amant Fire Department was called, but neighbors extinguished the fire with a hose before firefighters arrived…
