New superintendent selected for New Orleans Public Schools

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The Orleans Parish School Board has selected Fateama Fulmore to be the next superintendent for NOLA Public Schools in a 5-2 vote.

Fulmore says that even though becoming a full-time superintendent is a dream come true, she says it is time to get to work.

Board members were met with applause after selecting NOLA Public Schools’ interim superintendent to permanently lead the school system to success.

“She really cares about the experience that all of our students have every day in every school. She has walked in their shoes. She’s walked in the teacher’s shoes, she’s walked in. The principals, the administrators. She’s really been at every level,” said NOLA school board President Katherine Baudouin.

Tears of joy from Fulmore as she said her first three days would be filled with getting out and sitting with the people who have been invested and committed to this community all their lives…
