Parish by Parish – Louisiana Hurricane Probabilities for 2025

(KMDL-FM)Can you believe Mardi Gras was the talk of Louisiana just one month ago? And just a month before that from Lake Charles to Lafayette, and Baton Rouge to New Orleans the I-10 corridor was just digging out from a historical snowstorm.

And now with Easter just a few days away naturally the mindset of Louisiana residents will swiftly move through Good Friday crawfish boils, Easter Sunday services, Mother’s Day, Graduation, and then it will be time for Hurricane Season 2025.

As the official start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season is less than 60 days away now, it is time to begin thinking of what needs to be done ahead of this year’s storm season. Naturally, we all want to know what the tropical forecasters are thinking before the season starts.

A general consensus of hurricane forecasts that have been released in this preseason phase of forecasting suggests that 2025 will be an active season. Most forecast outlets are using the words “above normal’.

The Tropical Meteorology Project team from Colorado State University, a very well-respected forecast outlet, has released their preseason look at the 2025 Hurricane Season. Here’s what they see in their crystal ball.

CSU predicts 17 named storms. Nine of those 17 named storms will strengthen to hurricane status. Four of those storms will likely become Major Hurricanes, in other words reaching Category 3 status or stronger…
