New Orleans landlords encouraged to apply for Healthy Homes certification

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The City of New Orleans is reminding landlords that they will have to prove their rental properties are in compliance with a new ordinance.

On Monday, April 7, a Healthy Home registration session will assist landlords ahead of the May 1 deadline.

The program requires rental properties to be mold free, have working smoke detectors and appliances that are in good working order. Failure to get the certificate is a violation of city code.
