Kickflips are on tap when Slidell officially cuts the ribbon on the new skatepark in John Slidell Park on April 15.
The project, which cost a little over $800,000, is in the back of what used to be Field 4 in the park, adjacent to the new pickleball courts. Parking is available behind the John Slidell Park gymnasium. The skatepark will be open from dawn until approximately 9 p.m., when the lights go off.
“It is incredible,” said Slidell Mayor Bill Borchert. “For about four weeks, I would go down there and check out the progress. It will probably be the most used park in the city, anywhere from ages 8 to 58. Maybe even 88. … I just hope everyone wears the right protection in case they fall.”…
