Bond set at $2 million for alleged French Quarter Fest shooter

A man who allegedly opened fire on French Quarter Fest crowds Sunday night will be held on a $2 million bond, an Orleans Parish magistrate commissioner ruled Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Parker, 25, was arrested shortly after the shooting near Iberville and Decatur streets at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, as New Orleans police cleared festival crowds from the French Quarter. New Orleans police recovered a still-hot Glock 22 with an extended magazine from the scene and booked Parker on five counts of aggravated second degree battery and one count of illegal use of weapons, court records show.

Parker allegedly wounded five people “who were in no way involved with him,” the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office said in a Monday statement petitioning for Parker to be held without bond pending Thursday’s dangerousness hearing…
