New Orleans nonprofit offers free expungement clinic for Second Chance Month

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans nonprofit is hosting a free expungement clinic Friday to mark Second Chance Month and support people affected by the criminal legal system.

Operation Restoration will hold the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Captain C’s Snowballs, located at 3636 Washington Ave. Attendees must bring proof of a criminal record or case information and a valid photo ID.

The clinic aims to help formerly incarcerated individuals clear their records, potentially removing barriers to jobs, education, housing and other opportunities. Organizers say between 70 and 100 million adults in the U.S. have an arrest or conviction record, and background checks by employers, landlords and schools often limit their chances for success…
