New Orleans council could investigate claims of harassment in this city department

New Orleans’ public works department may face an investigation by the New Orleans City Council after employees accused department leaders of harassment and retaliation.

A resolution approved unanimously by a council committee on Monday would immediately launch the investigation into the department and “any other departments, offices, or agency where working conditions may be impacting the work product of city employees.” The full council may consider the ordinance as soon as its next regular meeting on May 8.

The proposal comes six months after a group of Department of Public Works employees appeared before a council committee meeting in an unusual public reveal of complaints about alleged insults, harassment, and retaliation by supervisors…
