NOPD officer who used city gas card to fuel his personal vehicle guilty of felony malfeasance

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A New Orleans police officer who repeatedly used a city-issued gas card to buy fuel for his personal vehicle pleaded guilty Tuesday (April 29) to a felony count of malfeasance in office.

Korey Jones, 36, faced up to 10 years in state prison for the crime. But Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier imposed a one-year suspended sentence and one year of supervised probation, meaning Jones will serve no jail time if he stays out of trouble for a year and pays $734.29 in court costs and restitution to the City of New Orleans.

The NOPD said it has begun taking steps to terminate Jones’ employment…
