NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A Fox 8 investigation found more than two dozen NOPD officers deemed guilty of misconduct by internal affairs investigators remain on the force. In only two cases did officers recently lose their jobs after internal investigations.
NOPD records show that between 2022-24, the department suspended, reassigned or arrested those 26 different officers for violations that ranged from aggravated assault to domestic battery to driving while impaired.
After Fox 8 shared its findings with her office, a spokesman for NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said that while the department can recommend punishment and even termination, those decisions can be overturned through the appeals process with the Civil Service Commission…
