NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans police and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office are looking into reports that a growing number of ASAP Release Monitoring clients are hearing from scammers posing as law enforcement personnel.
A similar scam was perpetrated against Marcus Downs of Hammond earlier this month.
Downs told Fox 8 he got a phone call that had no caller ID, but the person on the line convinced him that he worked for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office, after revealing personal and criminal information about Downs’ brother Preston, who was booked into jail the day before…
