On the morning of Nov. 25, 2024, a man entered a Central City bank, requested a sticky note, scribbled a message and handed it to a teller.
“Can I borrow 2K this is a robbery,” Juan K. Simpson, 30, wrote in the note, according to a federal complaint. He passed it to the teller at the Capital One branch in the 2700 block of South Claiborne Avenue.
While Simpson waited in the lobby, New Orleans police arrested him. They’d been summoned by a different teller at the bank. That teller told him to leave after he passed the note, which he’d written on paper borrowed earlier that morning from the bank, the complaint states…
