NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Louisiana lawmakers are moving forward with a bill to crack down on fake temporary license plates, a growing problem linked to uninsured and undocumented drivers. The effort follows a series of Fox 8 investigations that uncovered hundreds of fraudulent tags in the New Orleans metro area.
One of those cases involved Amanda Holman, who said her vehicle was hit on I-10 in Metairie by a driver with a fake tag who didn’t have insurance or speak English.
“My insurance is now almost double,” Holman said during a previous interview. “I pay $663 a month for two vehicles because I had to claim my own insurance.”…
