Heavy police presence, traffic control to return to New Orleans Lakefront for Mother’s Day

Multiple law enforcement agencies will again be out in force on the New Orleans Lakefront for Mother’s Day, levee protection authorities said Tuesday — the latest showing of a new agency playbook pushed by Gov. Jeff Landry’s administration.

In a news release Tuesday, Orleans Levee District Police Superintendent Joshua Rondeno said heightened safety plans on Easter “yielded tremendous results,” but he did not provide details or share the number of arrests or citations.

“It’s become our new normal, and we will once again replicate these measures to ensure a safe environment for residents to enjoy the park-like beauty of the Lakefront as they gather with their families,” Rondeno said…
