A Jefferson Parish deputy fired his gun early Saturday during a multi-parish chase that ended near Ponchatoula, Sheriff Joe Lopinto said. The suspect, Travis Umfrey, 44, was arrested after a struggle during which he allegedly tried to grab a deputy’s stun gun and his own knife, JPSO said.
No injuries were reported.
At around 2:40 a.m., deputies spotted Umfrey driving a truck with no license plate near Yale and Hudson streets in Metairie. Umfrey exited the truck, swore at the deputy, ignored commands and fled with a female passenger after the deputy tried using a stun gun, JPSO said…
