Heads up, New Orleans residents and commuters: the intersection at Mirabeau Avenue and Touro Street is getting a makeover, but it’ll be off-limits for a spell. Starting on Tuesday, RNGD Construction, LLC will fully shut down the intersection to jump-start some much-needed roadway excavation. This move is a piece of the larger $34.1M St. Anthony Group A (PMOPI) infrastructure project that’s patching up our city’s streets and drainage systems, as noted by NOLA.gov. It’s been announced that the closure should last about a month, looking to wrap up by June 20.
While Mirabeau Avenue’s eastbound and westbound lanes will still be passable, it’s advised to slowly approach the area during the construction period. With RNGD at the wheel, an assortment of signs and barricades will be on site to carefully guide both drivers and pedestrians around the closed-off zone. Folks traveling through should plan to give themselves a bit more time to navigate alternate routes or to follow the detour signage already in place…
