A former guard at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna has been arrested on charges that he tried to smuggle drugs into the jail, according to authorities.
Dillon Mike, 21, of Marrero, was booked Sunday with malfeasance in office, possessing contraband in the correctional center and possession of schedule III drugs with the intent to distribute, according to Sgt. Brandon Veal, a spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Mike had been with the department for about nine months and was assigned to inmate security, Veal said. He is accused of trying to bring the drugs into the facility on Sunday.
