NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – With Independence Day celebrations fast approaching, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is urging residents to stay safe and informed when using fireworks, reminding the public to prioritize safety and check local laws before lighting up the skies.
Here’s a parish-by-parish breakdown of where fireworks are allowed and where they’re not across Southeast Louisiana:
Jefferson Parish
Personal fireworks are not permitted in unincorporated areas of Jefferson Parish. Residents can instead enjoy a community fireworks display at the annual Uncle Sam Jam celebration.
Lafourche Parish
Fireworks may be used throughout most of the parish. However, within Thibodaux and Golden Meadow, fireworks are prohibited, except in Oak Ridge Park in Golden Meadow, where they are permitted.
Orleans Parish
The use of fireworks by individuals is completely banned in Orleans Parish. Residents can attend one of two public shows: Go 4th on the River or the City Park fireworks event, scheduled for July 3.
St. Bernard Parish
The public may use fireworks during permitted hours, which run from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
St. Charles Parish
Residents are allowed to light fireworks on July 3 and 4. A public display is scheduled as part of the parish’s Independence Day Celebration on July 3.
St. John the Baptist Parish
Fireworks may be discharged only on July 4.
St. Tammany Parish
Fireworks are permitted in unincorporated parts of the parish.
