SLIDELL, La. (WVUE) – A 64-year-old Mississippi man was killed Saturday morning (July 12) in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 59 near the I-12 interchange in St. Tammany Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 10 a.m. when Barry D. Stockstill of Picayune, Mississippi, was driving a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer towing a trailer northbound on I-59. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.
Stockstill, who was properly restrained, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, who was also wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment…
