NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Mark Hunter Jr., the 24-year-old Belle Chasse man accused of attempted second-degree for allegedly driving into two law enforcement officers on Bourbon Street last weekend, has had previous run-ins with the law.
Hunter is facing his most serious allegations yet, accused of sending a New Orleans Police officer to the hospital in critical condition with a head injury after hitting him with his blue Chevrolet Camaro shortly before midnight on July 18. The NOPD has not disclosed the officer’s name or current condition, saying only that he is an eight-year veteran of the department.
Court documents say Hunter was “driving recklessly by revving its engine behind a taxi cab” before the officer and deputy attempted to stop him from “driving recklessly through the crowded intersection of Bourbon Street, which was full of pedestrian traffic” Friday at 11:56 p.m…
