A fatal incident disrupted the early morning calm on the Crescent City Connection Bridge in New Orleans, where a man was pronounced dead following a shootout with occupants of multiple other cars. The New Orleans Police Department reported on WWLTV that the deadly exchange occurred on the westbound lanes, causing a complete closure of traffic before the General De Gaulle exit and leading to a substantial halt of movement. During the confrontation, another individual was also injured, WDSU notes.

The bridge, serving as a vital artery connecting the east and west banks of New Orleans, was closed for over five hours as NOPD conducted its investigation. The reopening of traffic followed the police’s examination of the chaotic scene that unfolded at approximately 1:03 a.m., said police. The victims’ identities, including that of the deceased, have not yet been disclosed, nor have any suspects been arrested at this stage of the investigation, according to information provided by the NOPD and cited by FOX8Live.
