NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – High pressure and sinking air have kept the stormy conditions away for the last few days. But the heat dome causing the above-average temperatures will shift west on Wednesday, allowing tropical moisture to move into the area through the early weekend.

In return, spotty storms will help bring down rain-cooled air and break the heat. Expect more widespread storms late in the evening.
