NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A proposed $180 million plan to settle clergy sex abuse claims against the Archdiocese of New Orleans could open the door to a long-sought deposition of Archbishop Gregory Aymond.
The settlement is part of a case that began after hundreds of people sued the archdiocese, alleging sexual abuse by clergy. The archdiocese later sought bankruptcy protection. The case is now in its fifth year.
