NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is working a pair of similar vehicle burglaries and thefts. While both cases have common elements, police say they can’t be connected at this time.
The most recent case happened Friday night, Aug. 8, in the 6900 block of Canal Boulevard. The previous case happened around 4:30 in the morning on May 18 in the 200 block of West Robert E. Lee Boulevard. Police release security camera footage in both cases.
New Orleans police searching for Jeep thieves caught on camera
In the May case, a team of four suspects is seen pushing a Jeep Cherokee down the street. According to police, the SUV was found a short distance away with a window shattered and the interior ransacked.
In the more recent case from last Friday, at least one suspect is seen pushing a Jeep Cherokee for a short distance down the street and then using a white car to push it away from the area. According to police, shattered glass was found on the ground where the owner of the Jeep parked the SUV, but the vehicle has not been located.
