Kenner SWAT, Federal Agents Capture International Fugitive Wanted for Homicide in Honduras

KENNER, La. — A Honduran man wanted for homicide in his home country has been captured in Kenner after a tense standoff August 22 that involved armored vehicles, a SWAT team robot and drone surveillance.

According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Elviss Caballero-Zuniga, surrendered to the Kenner Police Department’s SWAT unit after authorities breached the front door of a residence using tactical equipment. Video released from the incident shows the surrender after the drone enters the home. Authorities say the arrest was made possible thanks to close coordination between Kenner PD and federal law enforcement partners.
