Intellectually disabled woman missing from Algiers home, NOPD says

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A 30-year-old woman with intellectual disabilities vanished from her Algiers home early Sunday (Aug. 31), prompting a search and a “critical missing person” alert from New Orleans police.

Authorities described Yandra Gomez as a Hispanic woman who is 5 feet tall, approximately 170 pounds, and primarily speaks Spanish. She may be carrying a pink backpack, police said.

According to the NOPD, Gomez’s family noticed her missing around 8:30 a.m. The family moved to Algiers only three weeks ago, police said, so Gomez is not considered familiar with the area…
