New Orleans traffic camera revenue expected to nosedive after new laws take effect

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Traffic camera revenue for the City of New Orleans, which has long helped fund the city, is expected to plummet in 2025.

During an Aug. 27 revenue estimation conference, city leaders projected the general fund will bring in $3.3 million from traffic cameras in 2025.

That marks a steep decline from the $19.6 million collected in 2023.

New laws have limited the city’s ability to use traffic cameras and forced it to share revenue on school zone cameras…
