Meet the 5-Year-Old Girl Who Saved Her Blind Grandmother from House Fire: ‘Truly exceptional’

In Kenner, Louisiana, a story of courage has emerged from a near tragedy. Five-year-old Chloe Woods is being celebrated as a hero after saving her blind grandmother and family dog from a house fire last week.

When the family’s fire alarm went off, Chloe sprang into action, recalling lessons she had learned just weeks earlier during a fire safety field trip to the Kenner Fire Department.

Acting quickly, she told her grandmother to hold onto her shoulder as she guided her safely out of the home. She also managed to rescue the family dog before running outside to shout: “Call 911! My house is on fire!”
