Orleans Sheriff’s office downloads ransomware

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office says it is dealing with a ransomware attack, but computers used in the jail are not affected.

According to the statement from the sheriff’s office, the cyber attack began around 4:30 a.m., but the trouble did not become apparent until around 8:00 a.m., when employees started having trouble with their computers.

The sheriff’s office says the jail’s computers are on a server separate from the one infected with the virus and they continue to function normally…
