New Orleans leaders reassure residents services won’t be impacted by HUD letter to Mayor Cantrell

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans City Council held a 20 minute meeting on Friday (9/5) with a simple message on federal housing money: “Nothing is expected to change.”

The council meeting came after U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner posted two letters on X announcing Mayor LaToya Cantrell and former NOPD bodyguard Jeffrey Vappie were suspended from signing federal contracts.
