Archdiocese of New Orleans abuse settlement vote begins in $180M bankruptcy case

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -The multi-million-dollar bankruptcy case of the Archdiocese of New Orleans is now in a crucial voting phase. In the five years of high-stakes bankruptcy proceedings for the archdiocese, the next seven weeks may be the most important.

“It’s go time and it is going to determine the fate of this bankruptcy,” said Soren Gisleson, an attorney representing dozens of claimants in the case.

Hundreds of people who have sued the Archdiocese of New Orleans for alleged clergy sex abuse are now weighing whether to accept a settlement of at least $180 million.
