Driver who crashed into bedroom, injuring teen, gets 10 years in prison

NEW ORLEANS — A 54-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree negligent injury and reckless operation of a vehicle in a crash that left a 15-year-old boy critically injured in New Orleans East late last year.

Cedrick Marshall was driving an SUV when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a home at the corner of Cerise Avenue and Chef Menteur Highway. The vehicle broke through a fence and slammed into a bedroom where the teenager, Jamal Jackson Jr., was sleeping.

Jackson suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition…
