Royce Duplessis vows to ‘aggressively address’ unlicensed Bourbon Street vendors as mayor

State Sen. Royce Duplessis said at a Downtown Development District mayoral forum Sept. 10 that if elected mayor of New Orleans he would “aggressively address” unlicensed vendors in the French Quarter to “set a tone downtown.”

“We have to set a tone downtown as well as how that pedestrian traffic connects to the French Quarter, particularly streets like Bourbon, and there’s a lot to unpack there, especially when you talk about people, illegal vendors, people who show up and just kind of do what they want to do downtown, and how we have to aggressively address that,” he said.

He also said he wanted to implement signage telling pedestrians not to jaywalk across Canal Street…
