The top three candidates to become New Orleans next mayor raised more than $1.1 million in combined campaign donations between July 4 and Sept. 1, with state Sen. Royce Duplessis taking in more than $584,000 to lead the pack, according to new campaign finance reports.
Over that same period, City Council Vice President Helena Moreno raised more than $470,000, while Council Member Oliver Thomas trailed Moreno and Duplessis significantly, collecting just more than $115,000 in campaign cash.
However, Moreno still leads by a mile in total money raised and is going into the last month before the primary with more than $1.4 million on hand. Duplessis has more than $590,000, and Thomas has more than $316,000 in the bank…
