Stretch of I-10 renamed in honor of fallen St. Tammany Parish sergeant

NEW ORLEANS — A stretch of Interstate 10 in St. Tammany Parish has been renamed to honor Sgt. Grant Candies, a sheriff’s deputy who was killed earlier this year while attempting to stop a fleeing vehicle during a pursuit.

The newly designated Sgt. Grant Candies Memorial Highway includes both the eastbound and westbound lanes near the Oak Harbor exits. New signage now marks the renamed section of the interstate.
