Michelle Woodfork dominates fundraising nearing the end of the Orleans Parish sheriff’s race

In the Orleans Parish sheriff’s race, front-runner Michelle Woodfork spent more than twice as much as her closest competitor in September and still maintains a fundraising lead heading into the race’s closing days, records show.

Woodfork’s campaign has dominated fundraising since she announced she was running against incumbent Sheriff Susan Hutson in February.

That trend continued in September, when Woodfork — the former interim New Orleans Police Department superintendent — raised more than $43,000, according to newly filed campaign finance reports, which covered the first three weeks of the month…
