Orleans Justice Center breach narrowly averted

NEW ORLEANS — A potential breach at the Orleans Justice Center was narrowly averted earlier this week when deputies found that dozens of screws had been removed from a secure metal gate in a recreation area.

Multiple sources say a far more serious situation was avoided because only a few screws remained before the plate could have been removed, allowing inmates a clear path to escape.
