Mourners honor Uber driver killed in French Quarter carjacking

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Mourners gathered Sunday night (Oct. 12) to honor an Uber driver who was killed during an attempted carjacking in the French Quarter last week.

Miguel Stemley, 60, died Thursday night (Oct. 9) after being pinned under his own vehicle during a struggle with carjackers at Bienville and Burgundy streets, according to police and family members.

People lit candles, placed flowers and prayed at the site where Stemley lost his life. Family and friends showed support for his widow, Lisa Stemley, who described her husband as a devoted family man…
