MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto held a news conference discussing a deputy-involved shooting.
The shooting reportedly occurred at the intersection of Barataria Boulevard and Westbank Expressway. JPSO officials said detectives were surveilling a vehicle in connection with a burglary investigation. The vehicle allegedly slammed into a police car as deputies were attempting to stop it. According to the JPSO, deputies then opened fire. The vehicle managed to get away, resulting in a pursuit.
Deputies said they managed to stop the vehicle and arrested two people, one male one female. A man managed to escape from the vehicle. Police are searching the area for the suspect…
