Authorities renew warning about green fentanyl: ‘We want to get ahead now’

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Law enforcement officials are warning the public about a new and dangerous form of fentanyl that has appeared on streets across southeast Louisiana, with authorities seizing the green substance as recently as Wednesday night.

Ashley Rodrigue with the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said authorities have seized the drug around the North Shore and in parts of Jefferson Parish. The green fentanyl represents the latest evolution in how the opioid epidemic has reached suburban communities.

“We want to get ahead now and say this stuff is out there,” Rodrigue said.
