NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – More than 200 people are estimated to have benefitted from the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System’s annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down, where volunteers provided food, clothing, hygiene kits and various services to homeless veterans.
The event took place Saturday (Oct. 25) at the New Orleans VA Medical Center on South Galvez Street, where dozens of veterans received personal escorts through different health care stations. Services included basic health care screenings, dental services, flu shots, DD-214 documentation assistance, haircuts and manicures.
Veterans could receive one-on-one help finding jobs, legal services or applying for benefits…
