NEW ORLEANS — Tuesday, a city budget hearing briefly got heated when the issue of state involvement in New Orleans’ finances came up.

“We need to tell them to mind their damn business,” said District E Councilmember Oliver Thomas.

Tuesday, Governor Jeff Landry posted on X, urging State Treasurer John Fleming, Attorney General Liz Murrill, and Legislative Auditor Mike Waguespack to “convene an emergency meeting of the Fiscal Review Committee. They must utilize all necessary measures to thoroughly review the city’s fiscal affairs and, if deemed necessary, appoint a fiscal administrator.”…
